Audrey Bergner

I’m Audrey. For over 15 years, I’ve blended narrative storytelling with digital media strategy. Born in Canada with Argentine and Peruvian heritage, my work explores the nuances of place, culture, and what it means to truly inhabit a destination.

The Publisher. As the founder of That Backpacker, I’ve documented 75+ countries, focusing on "slow travel," finding the story whether I'm exploring remote Patagonian estancias or seeking out unique onsens in Japan. My work has been featured in National Geographic, Expedia Canada, and honoured with 2x World Travel Awards.

The Mission: Project 23. Currently, I am undertaking "Project 23" via Che Argentina Travel: a massive mission to document every single one of Argentina's 23 provinces. From the Puna to Patagonia, I am building the definitive encyclopedic travel resource for the country.

The Restoration. When not on the road, I am in the Sierras de Córdoba, managing the complex restoration of a historic family hotel. This is more than a project; it is a lesson in Argentine resilience, bureaucracy, and the art of hospitality.

The Family. Life has expanded with the arrival of our daughter, Aurelia, who is already a pro traveller with adventures from Peru to Alaska. We split our year between Argentina and Southern Alberta, always looking forward to summer road trips into the Canadian Rockies. Whether heading west into Samuel’s home province of British Columbia or exploring small towns with big personality, we are raising the next generation to be as curious about the world as we are.
