Audrey Bergner

Travel Writer • Argentina Specialist • Co-Founder, Samuel & Audrey Media Network

I'm Audrey. I was born in Canada but Argentina has been part of my story since childhood. I grew up spending my early years in the Sierras de Córdoba — climbing trees, picking blackberries, swimming in creeks. That connection to this country isn't something I developed as an adult. It's been there since the beginning, and it shapes everything I write.

I've travelled the length of Argentina multiple times — long-distance buses, off-the-beaten-path towns, learning how the country actually works for independent travelers. That meant navigating the Blue Dollar, understanding local inflation, and finding the places that don't make the tourist brochures. That experience is the foundation of Che Argentina Travel and everything I write there.

Before I focused on Argentina, I spent over a decade backpacking the globe and documenting what I found. That Backpacker grew out of those years — 75+ countries, a love of great food and unique stays, and a commitment to the kind of practical travel advice you'd want from a friend who figured it out the hard way. Not the curated version. The real one, with the logistics people always forget to mention.

Right now, my main mission is Project 23 — documenting every single one of Argentina's 23 provinces through Che Argentina Travel. This isn't a checklist. It's a personal commitment to do justice to the full country, from the Puna in the northwest to the far reaches of Patagonia. We keep coming back to Patagonia in particular. It has a way of demanding return visits. Every time we think we've seen enough, it gives us something new.

When I'm not traveling, I'm in the Sierras de Córdoba managing the restoration of a three-generation family hotel property — navigating Argentine bureaucracy, supply chains, and the particular chaos of renovating a historic building while also living in it. It gives my Argentina writing a layer of ground-level reality that's hard to fake. I know what the logistics actually look like because I'm living them.

My husband Samuel and I met in South Korea, teaching English — connected through a link exchange between our two travel blogs, which escalated into a shared life built around travel, food, and cameras. Together we've built a media network approaching a million combined subscribers and 250 million views, been recognized with 2X World Travel Awards, and been featured by National Geographic, the White House, and publications across Argentina, Peru, and beyond.

We split our time between South Alberta (May–October) and the Sierras de Córdoba (November–April). Our daughter Aurelia, now 19 months old, has already traveled to Canada, the US, Argentina, Peru, and Alaska — including a cruise up the Inside Passage with her grandparents. She is, as far as we can tell, completely unbothered by any of it. We're raising her curious, and so far it's working.
